Base: Waterfall legs with recessed leveling feet
Finish: Sand polished from 80 to 400 grit. Tough - water/alcohol resistant. Six coats of sustainable, natural and earth-friendly polymerized Tung oil and Uralkyd resin.

This coffee table began its life in a walnut orchard in California's Sacramento Valley—but not as an ordinary tree.

Originally planted by the very first senator in California, this tree's roots are Circassian walnut rootstock -- prized for its strength, adaptability, and beautiful grain. Decades later, orchardists grafted a European (English) walnut onto that root system, combining the vigorous, resilient roots with a variety that produces larger, higher-quality nuts. Grafting allows growers to get the best of both worlds: stronger trees, improved disease resistance, faster production, and consistent nut quality. It's a practice that has shaped California's walnut industry for generations.

When an orchard tree reaches the end of its productive life, it's usually chipped or burned.

This one wasn't.

Instead, it was transformed into something that will be appreciated for generations. The dramatic figure you're seeing is the meeting of two worlds—the swirling grain of the Circassian rootstock flowing into the European walnut above it. It's a pattern that simply can't be replicated and rarely ever makes its way into furniture.
