Watch Us on Home Town Takeover!
If you've ever watched HGTV, you're no stranger to the likes of Ben and Erin or Dave and Jenny. And as of this fall, we're no longer strangers to them either. Through some awesome serendipitous chance, we got the opportunity to hammer and saw alongside these stars and their hard-working crews. But let's back it up just one second and start at the beginning ...
Fort Morgan was selected to be featured in Season 2 of HGTV's Home Town Takeover.
We aren't sure how or why Fort Morgan was chosen out of thousands of applicants, but we knew we wanted to be a part of it the minute we heard the news. Jason started asking around right away and got a meeting with the film crew. He walked through the door the next day and asked if anybody around there needed a woodworker. Guess what? They did!
Fort Morgan's takeover involved 18 total projects -- six residential, six businesses and six community. What started out as just a handful of projects for Just Rustic evolved into three solid months of doing nothing outside of HGTV. And when we say nothing, we mean nothing. Jason worked nonstop seven days a week, often pulling all-nighters to make sure everything was camera ready the next morning.
While some of these projects were budgeted and paid for, most of them we did for free. ( We're still trying to count up the man hours and dollars donated to the show! ) In exchange for our pro bono work, we received air time or a shoutout on the show.
"Even though the no money thing made her nervous, I kept telling Leah that we're going all in," said Jason. "When will we ever get a chance to have this kind of advertising and reach again?"
So that's what we did. We went ALL IN.
And while we wish we could share a million photos and videos with you, we can't talk specifics about what was worked on until the show airs in the spring of 2023. But we can tell you it crossed the gamut of all things wood, both in and out of our wheelhouse. And sometimes even a lawn that needed mowing. Nothing was out of the scope.
As soon as we have an air date for the premier, we promise to share it with all of you! And there are even rumors going around about a watch party at the showroom. So stay tuned.
